Ukranian network of Information Society

National networks of the Information Society are the practical implementation of the Global Information Space Project. For a long time international and European organizations have been carrying out different campaigns on stimulation of the development and implementation of the national strategies of creation of the Information Society.
The term "E-Ukraine" originated from the title of the one of the first Ukrainian popular scientific issues dedicated to this topic, the book by Oleh Shevchuk and Oleksiy Holobutsky "E-Ukraine. Information Society in Ukraine. To Be or Not to Be". They became also the co-authors of the project "Ukrainian Network of the Information Society". That's why the name of the respective web site reads: www.e-ukraine.org.ua.
"Ukrainian Network of the Information Society" has just started functioning and the authors of the Project will appreciate any input. We are seeking ways for Ukraine to successfully integrate into the Global Information Space. We are open to cooperation within the framework of the Project.


The Institute Of the Information Society, Telenor and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, Supported by the World Bank are going to held the International Conference on the problem of the implementation of regulative policy in the telecommunication branch - "The particular features of the regulative policy in the ICT sphere in Ukraine". The main goal of the Conference is analyzing of foreign experience and working out recommendation documents for the Government and the parliament, concerning creating and functioning of the Independent regulative authority in the ICT sphere in Ukraine. The book by Oleh Shevchuk and Oleksiy Holobutsky "E-Ukraine. Information Society in Ukraine. To Be or Not to Be" appeared in print in 2001. This is the first Ukrainian research dedicated to the problems of creation in Ukraine of the Information Society and involvement of our state into the international processes of creation of the Global Information Space. The authors set forth main theoretical and applied issues of the topic: general and specific definitions, history of conception and development of ideas, current and strategic goals, achievements and impediments on the way of informatization and entering the new - Digital - human civilization. The book is intended for a wide range of readers.
